The Birth of Oriental Fighting Arts

Power... Focus... Speed... Confidence...

Special OfferChinese martial arts have a history that spans thousands of years. Their birth occurred before there were books or writing. They took root as rudimentary fighting skills and in time evolved into highly effective and sophisticated systems of personal combat. Over the centuries these methods influenced the development of other Oriental Fighting arts. In the West they are better known as Kung Fu.

In ancient times, it was not unusual for a student to travel great distances and endure many hardships to seek instruction from a master. Teaching was conducted in secret and techniques were handed down only to a handful of trusted family members and disciples.

Kung Fu is an effective means of self-defense, and at higher levels it is an essential discipline for integrating and using our physical, mental and spiritual powers. A significant by-product of training is a maturity built on controlled assertiveness, self-confidence, decreased dependence on others, and reduced aggression. If the need for self-defense ever arises, Kung Fu techniques can be applied quite effectively. The trained practitioner will be able to do so, not in blind rage but with controlled mental awareness.

Northern Shaolin Kung Fu

We begin by teaching students Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, the world's most famous martial arts system, as a means of developing a sound foundation. Our focus is for students to develop the required physical attributes such as strength, flexibility and endurance while acquiring basic martial skills.

The first six months of training are the most important and set the course for the training to come. The Chinese have a saying: "Without a proper beginning, there is no hope for a right ending."
